DAN GERHARD
Founder and Sound Designer
Dan is an Emmy award winning industry professional with deep experience in sound design, live mixing, television broadcast and studio recording. Dan is the lead sound designer for Sonic Designs and is known industry wide for his uncompromising commitment to every detail of the projects he undertakes. He has designed systems for artists from intimate theater spaces to arenas and stadiums, crafting the ideal listening experience for all caliber of artists and venues. His innate ability to deliver great sounding experiences, is a result of the range and depth of the shows he’s designed. A graduate of the renowned Eastman School of Music, his sensibilities as a musician, along with a breadth of knowledge from his multifaceted experiences, give him a unique ability not only to identify audio problems but to create real world solutions.
ELLEN FITTON
Associate Sound Designer
Ellen is a seasoned professional with a breadth of experience in recording, mixing and sound design. She has worked with world-class artists from pop to classical, adeptly handling the nuances of working with solo artists, large orchestral ensembles, and pop bands. Since joining Sonic Designs as administrative assistant, Ellen has become an integral member of the sound design team. She is actively engaged in the planning, installation, and production of shows to ensure that all aspects of the sound production succeed. She is an accomplished FOH mixer, tackling The Tonys, The New York Pops and numerous Upfronts. She earned an Emmy Award as a member of the sound team on Jesus Christ Superstar Live, a Grammy nomination for her work on Sony’s “100 Years Soundtrack”, and a MOJO award for her work on “The Complete Motown Singles” box set. A graduate of the Tonmeister program at SUNY Fredonia and a classically trained pianist, Ellen brings her technical and musical skills to every project.
DAVID CRAWFORD
Associate
Dave is an accomplished sound designer, project manager, and mixer. He has an in depth understanding from the detail end of the spaces to be addressed, to the specificity of the gear that will best be utilized in those spaces. He has been the lead technician on hundreds of projects; from Broadway Shows, to TV specials, and special corporate events. He was awarded an Emmy for the live mixing of Jesus Christ, Super Star in 2018, and has been an important resource for Sonic Designs on many collaborative projects over the years. For over 5 years, he was a valued employee at FireHouse Productions, a reknowned premier audio production company that has provided audio for high profile events and productions for decades.
He is a graduate of the UCLA school of Theater, Film, and Television, focusing on sound design. He resides in NYC, and has traveled the globe servicing many important and diverse clients.
